The word entertainment comes from the Medieval Latin intertenere, which combines the prefix inter- meaning inside, and the suffix tenere, which means to hold or keep in. The word can also be traced back to the Indo-European root ten, which means to stretch or extend something. These days, many entertainment forms are able to cross over different media and have proved that they can be as entertaining for adults as they are for children.
