Entertaiment is a form of amusement. Today it is widely adaptable to suit any number of individual tastes, from a couple who selects and plays their private entertainment from a now enormous array of pre-recorded products; to a banquet adapted for two; to a party of any size or style; to a performance intended for thousands; to a global audience. The experience of being entertained has become strongly associated with leisure, so that one not uncommon understanding of the idea is fun and laughter, although many entertainments have a serious purpose, as may be the case inside the various styles of ceremony, celebration, religious festival or satire for example.
